The Kufiyah Pattern And Lala Berlin

Recently, questions have arisen regarding the use of the Kufiya pattern in our collections. We would like to take this opportunity to explain why this pattern holds special significance for us and how it is deeply connected to the personal history and roots of our founder and creative director, Leyla Piedayesh.

For us, the Kufiya pattern is not just an aesthetic element, but a symbol of cultural connection and inspiration. Through our work, we aim to honor and share the beauty and diversity of the patterns that are part of Leyla’s cultural heritage.

„I incorporated the pattern of my childhood because it represents the treasure from which I can draw endless inspiration. This is not an act of cultural appropriation nor is it meant as a political statement. Since the founding of Lala Berlin, it has been an expression of my love for my homeland – the Orient. The current events deeply move me, and nothing would make me happier than a solution that allows all people to live in peace.“

Understanding the importance of tangible support we have decided together with Leyla to support MÉDECINS SANS FRONTIÈRES on behalf of Lala Berlin to support their projects in the Gaza Strip.
