LALA ISLAND

LALA BERLIN SS20

A WORD FROM LEYLA:

“I have noticed lately that we seem to have this need to withdraw and become - sometimes quite literary - isolated. I have thought a lot about unification, about being stronger together. This was my starting point for the collection - I just had this need for togetherness. Which is why I created LALA ISLAND in my head - a place where all the cultures mingle freely, share their inspirations, heritage and crafts. It's a complete fantasy, but who is anyone to say it may not become real?

LEYLA PIEDAYESH, FOUNDER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF LALA BERLIN

The Lala Berlin Spring/Summer 2020 collection is an exploration of how we merge cultural identities. The collection celebrates a free, no-boundaries utopia where tolerance and free spirits reign. Aesthetic influences from all over the globe have been beautifully and freely combined, creating syncretized, DIY-inspired looks which cannot be clearly traced back to one particular culture yet combine the unique features of many. An eclectic, patch worked and harmonic collection which is as multi-cultural as it is unmistakably Lala Berlin. Summery light silks, printed in a vibrant snake pattern mixed with striking florals and cross stitched Kufiya embroidery.

The color scheme of Lala Island is defined by soft pastels such as lilac, pink and blue together with a vivid orange and bright red. These colorful elements are combined with earthy neutrals like sandy white, olive and coconut brown to create a lush vacation inspired palette.

Silhouettes evoke subtle reference to the late 1960ies jetset culture: lace up details, linen suiting and voluminous sleeves give the collection a feminine and elegant frame. Sailor Hats as well as Buckles that transform the silk scarves into DIY Belts add a touch of playfulness.

The Lala Berlin Spring Summer 2020 ready to wear collection is complemented by a stand- alone bag and jewelry collection that ties back to the multicultural and diverse vibe of Lala Island.
